Why Hemp?

The weaving of hemp fabrics is one of the world’s oldest industries, and soon will be the only sustainable path left for our future. Our ancestors used hemp 10,000 years ago because of its extremely high fiber content and multiple uses. By planting hemp instead of cotton today, we can produce 250% more fiber on the same amount of land. Since hemp is resistant to insects and diseases, it requires no pesticides. By way of contrast, non-organic cotton growers are responsible for over 50% of world pesticide use. Since non-organic cotton is often rotated with certain food crops, toxic pesticides build up and find their way into our meals. Run-off from non-organic cotton fields further pollutes streams, lakes, and all the creatures that depend on them.

The earth deserves our love and care. Choosing hemp is a small, simple act: but one that can heal the planet. The fashion industry is appallingly exploitative, but it doesn't have to be. We made the choice to have a positive impact on the planet, and it all starts with these 2 commitments:

No Polyester: recycled or not, polyester is the main driver of microfiber pollution that's damaging ecosystems globally — not what we consider "sustainable". Plus, as a plastic thread, it's notoriously saturated with hazardous chemicals that we especially don't want rubbing against our skin.

Organic Natural Fibers: we only choose organic fibers that are consciously farmed without any chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and it's regularly water by rainfall. Organic practices allow these fibers to grow naturally, and the surrounding environment to continue to thrive. It's the main component of every clothing item we make. We're always exploring and developing new fabric weaves and garment styles with this ultra-soft, versatile fiber.

2) Net Zero Emissions

Greenhouse gas emissions are driving irreversible changes to our climate, and we're committed to reducing and offsetting 100% of our emissions. Through Climate Neutral Certified, our carbon footprint is calculated and neutralized through financial contributions to third-party validated and verified programs.
